Project Brief
We were engaged by a new client to deliver an independent valuation of a gold mine located in the Amazon rainforest in South America. The operation comprises eight open pits using conventional truck-and-shovel mining methods, with ore processed through a milling facility where gold is recovered via crushing, grinding, and leaching and gravity circuits.
Having acquired the mine in early 2023, the new owner required a reliable, up to date understanding of asset value to support strategic decision making. Rushton International was appointed to provide a robust and transparent valuation of the operation.
Our Approach
We implemented a structured and data driven valuation process to ensure accuracy and clarity. Asset information was gathered and analysed, then integrated into our cost modelling database to establish a strong foundation for the valuation. We worked closely with the client to agree an inspection schedule, carrying out detailed onsite surveys to verify the assets, validate the data provided and capture any missing information.
Using these insights, we developed comprehensive asset schedules across all operational areas. Back in the office, our team produced detailed cost models for each facility, applying current pricing data and industry expertise.
To ensure confidence in the results, we undertook independent validation checks by benchmarking against comparable assets and indexing historical costs. A draft report was shared with the client to allow for review and discussion, ensuring full alignment before issuing the final valuation.
Benefits
The client received a clear, detailed valuation report with asset values broken down by location and operational area, providing greater visibility and confidence.
Additionally, we aligned our valuation outputs with the client’s internal reporting format. This made the results immediately usable, easier to interpret and more effective for internal analysis.
As a result, the client is now better equipped to model risk, assess potential loss scenarios and make informed financial and operational decisions.
